  • Stearyl alcohol also known as octadecan-1-ol is a long-chain primary fatty alcohol consisting of a hydroxyl function at C-1 of an unbranched saturated chain of 18 carbon atoms.
  • It is often found as a hair coating ingredient in shampoos and conditioners, and an emollient in creams and lotions for the skin.
  • To thicken formulas, adding body and viscosity.
