SIAL China 2016 is Asia's largest food innovation exhibition. From 5-7 May 2016, the trade fair was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. It featured exhibitors from 67 countries. Top 10 country pavilions were showcased by South Korea, USA, France, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Argentina, Poland, Turkey, and Malaysia
Number of exhibitors and visitors increased by 25% compared to SIAL China 2015. It is expected that number of visitors will increase to 80,000 in the upcoming year 2017. Based on the facts and figures, the event definitely proved to be an effective business sourcing platform.
SIAL China 2016 featured food sectors consisting of 21 product categories. The event also held competitions to discover innovative products in the F&B industry. Among them were SIAL Innovation, La Cuisine, and Best Buy China. Other highlights of the exhibition include Retail & Hospitality Forum, World Tour, Chocolate Tour, and Seafood Fest.
DagangHalal at SIAL China 2016
At SIAL China 2016, DagangHalal (DH) as the event media partner was stationed at the International Hall, booth W5-G066. Strategically located, the hall was next to the Entry Registration, and the DH booth received the attention of the highest traffic flow of international traders and buyers.

DH served as an international platform for traders and buyers to source for certified Halal products. During the event, a diverse selection of Halal products from DH merchants were neatly arranged on glass shelves. This elegant display of F&B products made the booth stand out from afar and attracted both exhibitors and visitors to the booth. Potential buyers were able to see and touch the actual products which made it easier for them to make spot-on decisions. This was evident as serious buyers quickly identified the products they were interested in and made specific enquiries.
Representing its merchants, DH also conducted one-to-one discussions to match trade fair participants with DH merchants. This session provided great B2B opportunities for both parties to expand their businesses. Once the right match was established, the serious buyer would register their buying interest, and their contact details would be passed on to DH merchants for direct interaction after the trade fair.
After the trade fair, all buying requests were channeled to the respective merchants through the Halal Trade Manager system. They were also provided with business match-reports.
The DH booth was successful at creating Halal presence and B2B matching at the trade fair. At SIAL China 2016, the DagangHalal team attracted more than 52 buying requests from serious trade buyers. Rico Food Industries Sdn Bhd, one of the DH merchants, received 30 buying requests during the 3-day trade fair. All buying requests were directly channeled to the respective merchants through the Halal Trade Manager System tool.
