'Pagoda' the brand, can trace back its sentimental origins to the birthplace of its founder, Liew Kee Yin, in Hopoh, Guangdong province, China.
Here, a pagoda built in the 19th Century, has braved flood, drought and famine over the many years, and, this pagoda has come to serve as a symbol of strength and tenacity to people within its vicinity.
Liew Kee Yin believed that this pagoda signifies the very principles and values in his product, hence, Pagoda became the brand of his groundnuts.
'Thong Thye', the company founded by Liew Kee Yin and that developed Pagoda groundnuts, was founded in 1945.
Today, it's known as Pagoda Foods (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and is under the stewardship of the third generation of the founder.
