Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Products Company Limited was established in 1974 in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province by its founder who foresaw the importance of vegetable oil and animal feed ingredient business that directly effects the Thailand’s economic growth. Managing the business with an organized work plan and policy, Thanakorn was soon supported by the Board of Investment of Thailand.
The path to success began in January 1978 when Thanakorn started to introduce 100 % rice bran oil and mixed rice bran - soybean oil to the market under the brand “COOKâ€. In 1996, the Thai government allowed soybean to be imported freely under the WTO policies and at the same time consumers were becoming more health conscious, so then Thanakorn introduced 100 % soybean oil under the brand “COOKâ€. It became widely accepted by the consumers and retains its popularity until today.
Thanakorn was the first vegetable oil manufacturer in Asia to use the Ice Condensing Vacuum System (ICS) in the refinery process to produce excellent quality vegetable oil. Thanakorn was also the first vegetable oil manufacturer in Thailand to use Nitrogen gas instead of tertiary butyl hydroquinone or TBHQ.
In 2010, Thanakorn’s management committee decided to increase the company’s production capacity by improving the production process with new technology that helped achieve higher production efficiency and was also more environmentally friendly. Today, the company production capacity is 2,500 tons of soybeans per day.
